Reflexology

Reflexology in Weybridge, Surrey

What is Reflexology

Reflexology is a gentle, yet extremely effective therapy practiced on the feet. It is non-invasive and totally natural.  It is wonderful for Fertility, Pregnancy, Miscarriage, Menopause and all things hormonal.

The focus is to stimulate points on the feet, known as reflexes, that correspond or mirror your organs, tissues and systems (such as your nervous or reproductive system). The treatment is designed to bring about a shift, change or rebalance in your energy and thus your well-being.  It is a very relaxing and safe therapy.

The techniques can be specifically adapted to work through each stage of your menstrual cycle encouraging your body to re-balance and shift towards, and to regain its natural rhythm and flow.

Reflexology can be extremely effective in alleviating stress and improving various hormonal imbalances thereby:

  • helping to combat the effects of PCOS and Endometriosis, and improve cycle regularity

  • reducing PMS & PMT symptoms (see Research)

  • alleviating many of the discomforts of hormonal disruption during Pregnancy

  • expediting labour

  • reducing pre & post pregnancy anxieties and post pregnancy ‘blues’

  • aiding natural conception and fertility

  • supporting IVF, IUI and medicated fertility cycles

  • reducing stress levels & associated symptoms of stress

  • smoothing and reducing menopausal symptoms such as hot flushes, night sweats and achy joints

  • reducing anxiety and pain post abdominal surgery (see Research)

Fertility Reflexology

Reproflexology™ is a specific form of Reflexology that helps to de-stress the body, calm the hormonal system and encourage the cycle to regularise.  The techniques are adapted to treat each part of the natural cycle or to support an IVF Protocol which is why it differs from standard Reflexology.

It also encourages the cycle to return after miscarriage.  See my blog ‘Whats so good about fertility reflexology?’ featured on Dr Larisa Corda’s website, which provides a little more insight.

Pregnancy Reflexology

Whether addressing the effects of morning sickness, or discomforts such as lower back ache and achy joints or swollen feet, Reflexology is wonderfully relaxing and beneficial during pregnancy.  It can help to address constipation, fatigue, heartburn, insomnia, sciatica and the emotional disturbances and mood swings.  As many of my clients have experienced miscarriage and the stress of infertility, I find that Reflexology is excellent at helping to reduce the impact of Pregnancy Anxiety, especially in the First Trimester. You can have treatment at any time of your pregnancy including during the first 12 weeks and especially when you get close to term.

For those struggling with early Pregnancy Anxiety, do have a look at my Hypnotherapy Self Help recordings, Pregnancy 1 & 2.

Inducing and Encouraging Labour

Near the end of the third trimester, techniques can be used to encourage the body to go into labour.  Treating you prior to your due date, on and around or post due date usually brings a great sense of relaxation and reduction in any discomforts, encouraging the body towards labour.

Postnatal Reflexology

Some women experience a ‘low’ often called ‘Baby Blues’ a few weeks after giving birth.  This may be caused by a combination of reduced sleep and hormonal disruption.  Reflexology is excellent at helping to de-stress and calm the body, aiding sleep, rebalancing hormones and soothing you postnatally, giving you time to adjust to the arrival of your little one!

Menopause Reflexology

Treatment helps to regain control over your menstrual cycle or to smooth the transition into Menopause and reducing the impact of hormonal issues such as hot flushes, night sweats, disturbed sleep, mood swings and achy joints etc.

When to have Reflexology

At minimum, a monthly treatment is advised however when addressing fertility and menopause, more frequent treatment will be optimal initially aiming towards a monthly session. We will discuss a treatment plan during your Initial Consultation.
